Let's Talk About Whiskers!

Cats look adorable with their whiskers but have you wondered why your furry friend has them?

In this blog post, I'll share with you a few fun facts about whiskers that you probably didn't know.

So, let's get started, shall we?

  • They're very sensitive
A cat's whiskers are extremely sensitive to the environment as the area around them is surrounded by blood vessels and nerves. The tips can even detect a slight change in the wind!

  • They aren't just on their nose!
Your kitty has a few whiskers around her nose and some near her eyes as well. your kitty also has whiskers on the chin, and on the back of her legs.
  • They help the cat figure out if she'll fit
Whiskers actually help your fur baby to figure out whether or not she'll fit through an opening.

  • They change color
Pure black cats get grey whiskers as they age---like humans get white hair!
  • They help the kitty position her prey
Whiskers help kitties figure out the proper position to make a fatal bite to kill her prey in one go.
