In the world of entertainment, from actors to singers, fashion designers and comedians, it seems that everybody loves their cats. What’s not to like? Cats are beautiful and elegant, playful and loving and more than anything, love to do their own thing.
Let’s take a look at some celebrities who love their kitties!
The late Karl Lagerfeld (fashion designer extraordinaire) who passed away this year (2019), left his beloved Birman cat Choupette his enormous fortune. Choupette had her own maids, two of them, her dinner consists of caviar out of designer dishes and travels on private jets. Choupette has her own Instagram account and her own Wikipedia page.
Everyone knows who Ellen DeGeneres is. She has one of the most successful talk shows in history and is a firm favorite among millions of people across the world. People also know that she is a huge animal lover and advocate and supports their causes. All of her cats are rescues. She and her wife Portia also live with three dogs as well. In a way, their animals are their children.
Ellen co-owns Halo Pet Food, which is a line of natural and healthy food for animals. She is partnered up with companies that are non-profit, for example, The Humane Society of the United States and donates a million pet meals to 100 animal shelters across America.
The late famous rocker and lead singer of Queen owned a beautiful kitty called Delilah. He even wrote a song about her aptly named “Delilah.” It appears on Queen’s album Innuendo. Inside the song are the words, “You make me so very happy/ When you cuddle up and go to sleep beside me/ And then you make me slightly mad/ When you pee all over my Chippendale suite.” It is said that Delilah was with him just before he passed away.
Drew Barrymore has been famous for as long as anyone can remember (think E.T, Firestarter and Cat’s Eye) and is a huge animal lover. This famous actress was a vegetarian for a very long time but is now a vegan. She adopted Fern and two other cats for her daughters and Fern often pops up on social media.
Ricky Gervais is one of the funniest people on the planet and often a host for shows like The Golden Globes. He unashamedly speaks his mind, getting him into trouble sometimes. He has a deep love for animals and even won a major animal advocacy award.
Gervais uses his social media accounts to raise awareness around the unnecessary deaths of animals whose lives were taken by poachers – such as the magnificent Cecil, the lion and raises other issues such as dog adoption and ending the fur trade.
At the end of the day, it is clear to see that celebrities from all walks of life love their animals, especially their cats, and will do anything for them!
